Sometimes I just want the comfort of homemade bread without having to go through all that tedious bread making process. This bread is quick to make and tastes amazing. This bread offers the perfect balance between crispy crust and airy inside with minimal ingredients. All you need is a bread machine and a lid covered pan. Ever since I got my Caraway pan set, I use the 6.5 QT Dutch Oven w/Lid pan to bake this bread (shop here https://www.carawayhome.com).

RECIPE

INGREDIENTS

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting

  • 1 tablespoon dried yeast

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups lukewarm water (start with 1 cup and add more if needed)

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Place all the ingredients in the bread machine in the order they are listed. Set the bread machine on the dough setting and run the whole cycle (mine is setting number 8 and the whole cycle takes 1 1/2 hrs).

  2. Meanwhile coat the Dutch oven pan with parchment paper and lightly dust the parchment paper with flour. When the dough is done overturn it onto the parchment paper in the pan. Lightly dust your hands with flour and fold in the sides of the dough into the center of the dough. Overturn the dough upside down and then set it on the same parchment paper in the pan. Dust a light coat of flour on top and with the help of a grignette make a cut in the top. Cover with the lid and set aside.

  3. Preheat the oven to 500 degrees F. When the oven is hot, place the pan inside and bake with the lid on for 30 minutes. Remove the lid and bake for additional 25 minutes uncovered. Remove from the oven and allow for the bread to cool down in the pan for 40 minutes. Make sure to leave the pan uncovered so to prevent the crust from getting soft.

  4. Slice the bread using a sharp bread knife.
